How we are funded
The SBTi is committed to transparency regarding our funding. Learn more about how we are funded below.
The SBTi receives three different sources of income:
- Core funding
- Project-specific funding for specific time-limited projects to develop new sector guidance or update specific standards
- Validation service fees*
*These fees are charged by the SBTi’s wholly owned subsidiary SBTi Services Limited, which delivers validation services to companies in respect of SBTi’s standards.
In the 12 months to the end of November 2024 (unaudited):
- 61% of income was from core funding
- 36% of income was from validation service fees
- 3% of income was from project-specific funding
Avoiding conflicts of interest
Income we receive from companies, whether as funding or validation fees to SBTi Services Limited, has no influence on decisions surrounding their targets. Read more in our conflict of interest policy.
