Support for the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0

The Standard was developed following a rigorous multi-stakeholder process. This page features supportive statements from across the climate ecosystem, including perspectives from companies and individuals who were involved in its development—from businesses that participated in pilot testing to experts who contributed their knowledge to its development as members of Expert Working Groups—as well as leaders across the business, sustainability and not-for-profit sectors.

Together, these voices reflect broad engagement in the development of Version 2.0 and support for a framework that is practical and accessible for companies to navigate the net-zero transition with confidence.

Ada Chávez

Senior Engineer, Net-Zero & EMS Lead - Lenovo

“Participating in the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2 pilot has been a valuable opportunity for Lenovo to help shape the next generation of science-based climate guidance. It reinforces that net-zero is not a one-time commitment, but a continuous journey grounded in transparent data, credible transition plans, and ongoing accountability. Achieving our net-zero target by 2050 requires strong collaboration across our entire ecosystem, reinforcing that value chain engagement is essential to drive real impact. We are encouraged by the increased rigor and practicality of the evolving standard, and the open, consultative process behind it. As adoption accelerates across Asia and global supply chains become more interconnected, it is important that the Standard and supplier engagement approaches can adapt to different market contexts. At the same time, a shared framework remains key to credible climate action.  A common, science-based framework is key to align the private sector, and we remain committed to supporting SBTi in advancing credible climate action."

Ani Dasgupta

President & CEO - WRI

“By strengthening the link to transition planning, this Standard takes a meaningful step towards closing the gap between ambition and real-economy change - helping companies identify the actions needed to actually implement their commitments. Leading companies will turn climate action from a commitment into a source of long-term competitiveness. But to translate commitments into action, companies will need to advocate for the economic policies and market mechanisms that make low-carbon transition commercially viable.”

Ankit Todi

Chief Sustainability Officer - Mahindra Group

“The business case for decarbonization across industries is growing stronger every year, whether in terms of cost savings, revenue growth, investor alignment, or supply-chain resilience. At the same time, technological advances and tightening regulations are making decarbonization investments inevitable for businesses. In this context, the updated SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard brings industry relevance, pragmatism, and credibility, helping companies move from commitments to scaled action to reduce emissions.”

Antonia Wanner

Chief Sustainability Officer - Nestlé

“We welcome the Standard for its greater flexibility for complex value chains, allowing decarbonization at activity pool and sector levels when direct traceability in Scope 3 isn’t possible. This will unlock further opportunities in tackling Scope 3 emissions, which represent the largest opportunity to ensure supply.”

Javier López Gómez

Global Head of Corporate Sustainability - SGS SA

“A robust Net-Zero Standard is essential to ensuring that science-based climate commitments translate into real, verifiable progress. At SGS, we recognize that credible action depends on rigorous measurement, transparent reporting and independent verification. As a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, we are proud to endorse this Standard, and we are committed to bringing trust and precision to empowering organizations to pursue net-zero with confidence and credibility.”

Dr. Jeeranee Janrungautai

Global Net-Zero & Climate Change Lead - Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC

“The Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2 leads organizations to transition to a low-carbon economy, ensuring that sustainability is not just a policy, but a competitive business advantage.”

João Teixeria

Climate and Nature Manager - Natura

“Natura's experience in the Corporate Net-Zero Standard 2.0 pilot program reinforces our conviction that the evolution of this standard is fundamental to the success of global climate goals. We support this new milestone as it becomes more connected to current challenges and corporate reality, ensuring that the transition to net zero is as ambitious as it is pragmatic and aligned with the urgency of our time.”

Kae Takase

Senior Manager (Climate Change) - The Renewable Energy Institute

EWG member

“The Expert Working Group was a space for honest and grounded discussions, where participants looked beyond the interests of their own organisations and stayed focused on a shared goal: making decarbonisation a viable business case globally. The resulting Standard is a strong outcome, but equally meaningful was the process itself — the opportunity to engage with committed peers from around the world. It was both intellectually rewarding and personally inspiring, and it gave me a real sense of encouragement to see how many people are genuinely dedicated to advancing global decarbonisation.”

Manuel Pulgar-Vidal

Global leader of Climate & Energy - WWF

“This next generation of the SBTi Net-Zero Standard marks a significant step forward in aligning corporate climate ambition with real-world delivery. It combines scientific rigor with practical pathways to deliver decarbonization at scale – helping companies invest where they can have the greatest impact, across their value chains and the sectors they operate in. Importantly, it also recognizes that achieving net zero requires action beyond the corporate sphere, with companies encouraged to make additional investments in climate and nature solutions around the world. WWF encourages businesses to adopt the updated standard and use it to drive meaningful emissions reductions. We stand ready to support them on this journey.”

Maria Mendiluce

CEO - We Mean Business Coalition

"The transition has entered a new phase: one where overcoming system-level barriers matters as much as corporate commitment. SBTi’s updated Standard recognizes that turning ambition into impact requires business action to help shape the markets, technologies, supply chains, and policies needed to accelerate decarbonization at scale."

María Paula Dip

Quality and Sustainability Manager - Vincente Trapani S.A.

“At Vicente Trapani S.A., participating in the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2 pilot has been a highly enriching experience. We especially value its technical robustness and its drive toward greater transparency and climate ambition—key elements for enabling real transformation.

We believe this standard represents a concrete opportunity for companies to move forward with greater clarity, consistency, and credibility in their decarbonization commitments, in line with the urgency of the climate challenge.“

Mercedes Quiroga

Sustainability Manager - Brenntag Group

“Global emissions continue to rise, despite best efforts of many of the world’s leading companies and very strong progress on our part. While there are some structural and technological barriers that hinder progress, giving up is not an option. It’s time to dig in, to innovate. We must find new ways of making progress and developing incentives. The new Standard from the SBTi does exactly that, providing a fresh framework and vision for the next decade of climate action.”

Miriam Kugele

Director of Environment and Sustainability - The Aga Khan University

EWG member

"Contributing to the EWG over the past year has been immensely rewarding, reinforcing my confidence in both the integrity and the timeliness of the new standard. The development process successfully balanced scientific depth with usability, and methodological flexibility with the necessary high ambition. I am certain this new standard will provide unprecedented assurance to the global market that net zero targets are not just credible, but truly transformative and vital."

Nicolas Clerget

Director Net Zero Strategy - The Heineken Company

"Net Zero ambition must be matched with affordability and actionability. The Corporate Net-Zero Standard Version 2 guides companies to direct investment toward the actions that deliver the greatest climate impact."

Patrick Cellie

ESG Program Management Office Lead - Autostrade per l'Italia S.p.A.

"Participating in the pilot program for the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard Version 2 generated significant value by providing early visibility on forthcoming requirements, deepening our technical understanding, and enabling us to actively contribute to the evolution of a critical global framework in a time where decarbonization efforts need to accelerate. Engaging alongside peers helped bridge scientific ambition with operational implementation, supporting the development of a more resilient, credible, and impactful Net-Zero Standard."

Preeti Srivasta

Head of Sustainability - Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd

“At Asahi, sustainability is a key strategic pillar for long-term success. The Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0 reflects what companies need to take effective climate action. It is a credible and practical framework that responds to different business realities and provides practical actions to move beyond setting targets to delivering results. As one of the pilot companies, we welcome driving sustainability through collaboration and co-creation.”

Silvana Paniagua Tufinio

Director - Value Change Initiative

EWG member

“Participating in the Scope 3 Expert Working Group has been a truly valuable experience. It brought together diverse perspectives to tackle some of the most complex challenges in corporate climate action. The evolution of Scope 3 approaches, including activity pools and the role of Market-Based Instruments, shows a strong effort to connect ambition with practical implementation. This kind of collaboration is essential to building credible and actionable standards at scale.”

Tim Clairs

Director - Climate Contributions

EWG member

“With the introduction of the Ongoing Emissions Responsibility framework, SBTi has taken a decisive step toward redefining corporate climate action. For the first time, companies have a clear framework to take responsibility for ongoing emissions through both mitigation outcomes and structured contribution finance.

This shifts how companies will engage. It opens the door to a new category of non-commercial, contribution-based climate finance that sits at the heart of net-zero strategies, rather than at the margins.

The strength of the Standard also reflects the depth and rigor of the development process. The SBTi team created a genuinely consultative environment, bringing together diverse perspectives to arrive at a robust and workable outcome.”

Tim Mohin

CEO - Greenhouse Gas Protocol

“As companies move from ambition to implementation, alignment between emissions accounting and target-setting frameworks is essential. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol welcomes the continued evolution of SBTi’s Corporate Net-Zero Standard and its integration of emerging areas such as Scope 2 updates and enhanced reporting approaches. Through ongoing collaboration, we aim to promote interoperability, provide clarity for companies, and enable credible, science-based climate action at scale.”
