Partnerships for Innovation: Addressing Emissions in the Value Chain
Event description:
The Paris Agreement, adopted in December 2015, is a decisive, defining, and catalytic instrument for building a thriving clean economy, and the We Mean Business coalition has provided a successful platform for companies and investors to contribute to this shift with the ÛÏTake ActionÛ commitments, which include science-based targets. To date, more than 1,100 commitments have been made on this platform by 526 companies representing more than US$8.1 trillion in revenue, and by 183 investors with more than US$20.7 trillion in assets under management.
BSR and CDPÛÓas two of the seven co-founding members of We Mean BusinessÛÓwill holdåÊa half-day of workshops, hosted by Stora Enso, on the commitment, ÛÏAdopt a Science-Based Emissions Reduction Target,Û with a focus on how companies may face the opportunity of reducing emissions in their value chains by partnering for innovation. Through this event, participants will hear from companies that are on the journey of science-based-target setting and implementation. They will also have the opportunity to join breakout sessions offering a deep-dive on effective partnerships and innovationÛÓwith suppliers to codesign climate-compatible production processes and products, or with peers to shift systemic barriers to climate ambition for emissions reductions in the supply chain.
Whether your company has already made a commitment or is considering doing so, this event will help you understand:
- The drivers of and barriers to implementation of science-based emissions targets in the value chain
- The benefits of making these commitmentsÛÓfrom concrete results on climate to recognition by peers and civil society
- The opportunities arising from collaboration for innovation and for reaching your companyÛªs climate ambition
