Consultation Webinar: Temperature Scoring Method Development for Companies and Investment Portfolios

Date: 30 April 2020
Time: 09:00 am - 10:30 am America/New York
Location: Online

The use of temperature metrics is becoming increasingly prevalent for measuring corporate and financial sector climate ambition. The success of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has led to a rapid increase in companies with approved science-based targets. Meanwhile, a growing number of companies outside the SBTi are claiming alignment to the long-term temperature goals set out in the Paris Agreement.

During this webinar, SBTi staff will present a new methodology that enables the temperature scoring of public targets at both a company and a portfolio level. This webinar will provide further details on the methods and applications and initiate a public call for feedback.

Topics to be discussed include deriving temperature scores from corporate GHG targets, defining default scores for non-disclosing companies, and weighting options for portfolio aggregation.

This webinar is relevant for financial institutions, climate scientists, consultants, and companies.

Agenda:

– SBTi framework development process for financial institutions
– Overview of temperature scoring methodology
– Scope, objectives and application of temperature scoring
