Take part in the public consultation
The SBTi exists to drive corporate climate action at pace, mobilizing businesses globally to set credible, science-based climate targets. When we launched our first Corporate Net-Zero Standard in 2021, there was no consistent definition of net-zero. Today, over 2,100 companies have set SBTi-validated net-zero targets, and momentum continues to grow.
Feedback from this consultation will help ensure the final Standard is practical, credible and robust, helping businesses worldwide accelerate the net-zero transition. Add your voice and help shape the future of corporate climate action.
To participate in the consultation, we recommend that you:

The SBTi has extended the deadline for the public consultation to December 12, 2025 (11:59 PM PT) to ensure stakeholders have sufficient time to review the draft materials and provide high-quality, considered feedback. Contributing your expertise will help us develop a final Standard that is science-based, innovative and practical. When you are ready to provide feedback, complete the public consultation survey.
Once the second consultation is complete, all feedback will be reviewed alongside insights from the pilot testing and expert working groups. This will inform the Standard which will be published for companies to use to set targets.
Stakeholders are strongly encouraged to submit their feedback via the official public consultation survey, which is the primary channel through which submissions will be reviewed and analyzed.
In cases where stakeholders are submitting consolidated or aggregate feedback that cannot reasonably be submitted through the online survey, these may be sent to standards@sciencebasedtargets.org.
When providing feedback by email, please ensure that:
- Each comment clearly references the relevant section or criterion of the Standard; and
- It is specified whether the submission can be made public as part of the consultation summary.
You can view the full survey before submitting your responses by downloading the survey questions.
Please note that feedback submitted outside the official consultation channels and unclear or incomplete submissions may not be reviewed or considered as part of the consultation process.
