Surge of companies commit to science-based targets ahead of CDP deadline
23rd May 2017
Since March 2017, 55 new companies have responded to the Science Based Targets initiative Call to Action and committed to set science-based target. Within the same period, over 90 companies submitted targets for technical review.
In a trend repeated from last year, many of the new target submissions were received in the weeks prior to the CDP scoring deadline. To tackle the influx, the SBTi has hired additional staff.
Note: This graph reflects figures as of May 5, 2017.
Companies that submitted their targets to CDP for an official validation by the deadline (23:59 UTC0-12 April 15, 2017) will receive a formal decision letter by the end of June 2017. Though staff are doing their best to give companies timely feedback, please note that during this period the validation process might take longer than usual for submissions by non-CDP responders and for preliminary validations.
We would like to officially welcome these companies to the Science Based Targets Call to Action and look forward to working with them on setting their targets.
