Frances Seymour

Distinguished Senior Fellow World Resources Institute

Frances Seymour is an expert on tropical forests and climate change. She is the lead author of the 2016 book, Why Forests? Why Now?.

She is currently Distinguished Senior Fellow at World Resources Institute (WRI), where she conducts research and writing, including the 2022 Not Just Carbon report. She also chairs the board of the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions.

Seymour has lived and worked in Indonesia for a total of 11 years, including six years as Director General of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) for which she was awarded France’s Order of Agricultural Merit.
