Delf Bintakies

VP Ecological Footprint Bayer AG

Delf Bintakies is Vice President Ecological Footprint and Member of the Corporate Sustainability leadership team of Bayer AG. In his role he leads the climate program of Bayer AG as well as other ecological topic like water. He led the process for Bayer to commit to a 1.5°C Science Based Target and join the „Business Ambition for 1.5°C“ with a Net Zero Target in 2050. On this journey he implemented together with his team an internal carbon price and integrated climate related targets into the management compensation.

Mr. Bintakies has a decade of experience in sustainability in corporate environments and leading organizations towards ambitious targets. Prior to his current role he build up the global Risk & Sustainability in Procurement team for Bayer and received the “Highly Commended Award” in Sustainability from Procurement Leaders in 2018. The program included building up a holistic approach to evaluate sustainability performance of a supply base of tenth of thousands of suppliers and laid the foundation for Scope 3 evaluation in the supply base.

He started his career in management consulting with deep expertise in the automotive and manufacturing industry and joined Bayer in the internal consulting focused on production and supply related topics before taking a leadership role in the procurement organization. Delf holds a Diploma in industrial engineering and management from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.
