CDP, UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute and WWF invite you to a webinar to learn about the Sectoral Decarbonisation Approach (SDA), a new method to develop science-based corporate GHG reduction targets.

This series of webinars is part of a larger public consultation process to gather input on this draft method. The public consultation period runs until 23 October, 2014. You can access the consultation survey here.

• Create an understanding of the Sectoral Decarbonisation Approach to science-based corporate target setting and the need for increased ambition in achieving GHG emission reductions.
• Provide clarification on the methodology where needed.
• Explain the public consultation process and next steps to finalize the SDA.

More about the SDA:

In a joint collaboration, CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), World Resources Institute and WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) launched the initiative Mind the Science, Mind the Gap to engage corporations in setting ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets as a response to the urgent call of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to decarbonize the economy. The scientific community calls for action to reduce 20-40% GHG emissions by 2020 and 85% by 2050 to keep the planet below a 2°C temperature rise. The Mind the Science, Mind the Gap initiative stresses the key role played by corporations in successfully addressing this climate threat by limiting, and reducing GHG emissions at the rate suggested by climate scientists. Development of the SDA is the first phase of this larger effort to promote science-based target setting.
