Webinar: How to Set Science Based Targets aligning with 1.5°C pathways

Date: 7 May 2019
Time: 09:30 am - 10:30 am America/New York
Location: Online

Science-based targets provide companies with a clearly defined pathway to future-proof growth by specifying how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. In light of the latest climate science, the UN Global Compact calls on all companies to set their science-based targets with a new level of ambition — one that aligns with 1.5°C pathways. In this Academy session, experts from the Science Based Targets initiative will guide participants to do this in practice. We will also hear from companies that recognize how greater ambition reaps greater benefits and that are already pursuing emission reduction targets with a new level of ambition. The session is relevant for both companies that are first getting started with science-based targets and those that are updating their existing ones.

During this interactive session, you will learn about:

– The science behind the need to raise ambition and set science-based targets aligned with 1.5 degrees Celsius pathways

– Updated on methodologies and guidance for setting a science-based target

– How Scope 3 targets are affected by the new climate science

– What corporate leaders are saying about their 1.5-aligned targets
