Unlocking breakthrough climate action in G20 countries through Science-Based Targets - A discussion on the SBTi’s “Taking the Temperature” report

Date: 23 September 2021
Time: 09:00 am - 10:00 am ET
Location: Online

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report in August reinforced the need for urgent climate action, including halving global emissions by 2030.

Business has a crucial role to play, and companies setting science-based targets cut corporate emissions by 25% on average over the last 5 years. How can this movement be scaled up?

This webinar will offer a deep dive into a new analysis on mainstreaming science-based targets building on the SBTi’s latest report, “Taking the Temperature. Assessing and scaling up climate ambition in the G7 business sector”. Released in June 2021, the report takes stock of corporate climate ambition in G7 countries, assessing the temperature ratings of the leading equity indexes of these markets.

Following an update on the report and temperature rating methodology, stakeholders from Business, Finance and civil society will discuss implications of new research to be unveiled on 23 September on up-to-date G7 index temperature ratings alongside key insights into emission target setting in G20 nations.
