Public Consultation for the Cement Science Based Target Setting Guidance and Tool
Session 1: 9:00 am - 10:30 am GMT
Session 2: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm GMT / 09:30 am - 11:00 am ET
The cement sector represents about 7% of the CO2 emissions globally, and its demand by 2050 is projected to continue rising by 20% than today, in the absence of efforts to optimize its use in buildings and construction (IEA, 2020).
Cement plays a vital role in the quality of human life -it is one of the main materials used to build houses, roads, schools, hospitals, dams and ports-, as well as in accelerating the transformation to a net-zero economy.
The SBTi is developing science-based target setting methodologies, tools and guidance for the cement industry to understand the level of decarbonization required to enable a 1.5°C future, and set science-based targets to cut their emissions and accelerate their decarbonization efforts at the depth and pace needed.
Join us on March 16 to learn about the Cement Science Based Target Setting Guidance and Tool development process and address key questions. During this webinar we will be opening a month-long public consultation period, so that you can contribute your valuable input.
