Public Consultation for the Buildings Science Based Target Setting Guidance and Tool
The building sector is one of the major contributors of carbon emissions worldwide, accounting for more than a third of today's global CO2 emissions, and is growing at an exponential rate. It is estimated that between 2020 and 2050 the global floor area will increase by 75%, meaning CO2 emissions would rise dramatically if no decarbonization efforts are implemented immediately.
This industry has a vital role in accelerating the transformation to a net-zero economy.
The SBTi is developing science-based target setting methodologies, tools and guidance for the building industry to understand the level of decarbonization required to keep the 1.5°C temperature goal within reach, set science-based targets to cut emissions and accelerate their decarbonization efforts at the depth and pace needed.
Join us on May 16, 2023 to learn about the Buildings Science Based Target Setting Guidance and Tool development process and address key questions. During this webinar we will be opening a two-month public consultation period, so that you can contribute your valuable input.
