The SBTi’s Target Validation Team is looking for new team members passionate about corporate climate action and experienced in GHG emissions. The validation team is based in 7 countries and works remotely, creating an exciting virtual environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct in-depth assessments of corporate emission reduction targets to ensure their alignment with the level of ambition set in the Paris Agreement and SBTi criteria;
- Serve as the lead contact for corporations throughout target reviews to request additional information and clarification needed for target assessment, answer technical questions, and provide updates on the validation process;
- Support with analyses of trends on corporate emission reduction targets reported through all partner organizations and the Science Based Targets initiative;
- Update internal databases with company and target information.
Location: East Coast of US, Mexico, UK, Spain, Netherlands, Singapore or Japan.
The SBTi is seeking Engagement and Customer Support Managers to help companies seeking subject matter expertise relating to the target validation process and the application of SBTi standards. These positions will be critical to improving the customer experience for companies interacting with SBTi Services, ensuring they understand the SBTi requirements for setting science-based targets and have support to discuss technical queries such as target updates, application of sector standards, or bioenergy accounting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Technical Support: Provide prompt, accurate technical assistance to companies navigating the validation process for their science-based targets. Answer inquiries regarding the interpretation and application of SBTi standards and guidelines, including sector-specific standards and nuances.
- Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with companies undergoing validation. Proactively reach out to customers to offer support and guidance before and following the validation process and at key milestones in the customer journey.
- Executive Communication: Engage directly with executives and sustainability managers at client companies, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and expertise. Conduct calls and meetings to address technical questions and provide strategic guidance on setting ambitious science-based targets.

The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) seeks a Built Environment Engagement Specialist to drive engagement with companies, industry associations, civil society, and other global stakeholders. This pivotal role will contribute to the SBTi's mission of promoting science-based emissions reduction targets across the built environment sector and catalyzing sustainability efforts across global economies.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop a Built Environmental engagement strategy that promotes adopting the SBTi building standards by identifying and prioritizing sub-sectors, regions, and organizations for engagement and identifying, initiating, and developing partnerships.
Continuously understand SBTi's evolving building standards, guidance, tools, and ongoing consultations.
Collaborate closely with priority companies in the sector to provide expert guidance and support, addressing their inquiries and needs promptly.

The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) is seeking a Compliance Manager to join our team. This role involves ensuring adherence to regulations and ethical standards while supporting compliance strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
Drafting and supporting the implementation of the SBTi Policies and procedures including training to the SBTi on Whistleblowing, Safeguarding, and Conflicts of Interest.
Developing internal control documents.
Establish formal monitoring systems for SBTi-wide implementation of compliance.
Tracking, reviewing, and responding to complaints, allegations, and appeals, including ensuring incidents are actioned and documented appropriately.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is looking for a Project Manager to join our growing Data & Technology Team. You will ensure key internal and external data and technology tools, products, and services are delivered on time, with high quality, and aligned to business and user needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Works closely with the data & technology team to support large / cross-functional projects with strategic importance to the organization.
Develops project plan, work estimation, and resourcing required to ensure project success.
Performs risk analysis, mitigation, and escalation to ensure stakeholders can react early in correcting the course of projects.
Executes, tracks, and monitors project progress and communicates relevant information to stakeholders regularly.

This role will protect and advance the CIO’s priorities, facilitate high-quality decision-making, and lead operational excellence across the department. The Lead will be responsible for overseeing department operations, supervising the Impact Coordinator, managing internal and external communications, and contributing to the department’s strategy, planning, and budgeting processes. This is a key role for ensuring that the Impact Department meets its objectives, promotes SBTi’s organizational values, and maintains effective alignment with other departments and stakeholders.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is seeking a Strategic Events Lead to spearhead a comprehensive events strategy that amplifies SBTi’s global influence in service of our mission. Positioned at the nexus of climate action leadership, this role transcends event management by strategically integrating SBTi into critical global dialogues and using events to influence to reinforce the SBTi’s role in the corporate and FI climate action ecosystem and drive the development of that ecosystem to accelerate private sector decarbonization.
Key responsibilities include:
Design and execute a forward-thinking events strategy that positions SBTi at the forefront of global climate action dialogues.
Embed SBTi’s presence within the broader ecosystem of international climate events, leveraging opportunities to advance the organization’s influence, partnerships, and leadership role.
Collaborate with senior leaders and the Comms department to develop cohesive narratives and impactful engagement strategies tailored to diverse audiences, including policymakers, NGOs, international institutions, sector bodies and business networks, corporations, and financial institutions.
Represent the SBTi in strategic discussions with partners’ events teams and bring an events lens to strategy, partnerships, and development discussions.
