Net-Zero Targets in the Corporate Sector – Option 1

Climate science is clear: to limit global warming, the global economy must reach net-zero carbon emissions by around 2050. Acknowledging this, a growing number of companies are setting long-term net-zero targets. However, there is no common science-based definition of “net-zero” in the corporate context, leading to confusion and inconsistent claims.

Join this webinar to learn about a new paper on principles to inform corporate net-zero targets and next steps for engaging with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) on this topic.

Members of the SBTi Steering Committee will present the working definition of net-zero and draft principles, share the open questions under consideration, and explain how stakeholders can help shape the next iteration of the definition, principles and draft guidelines expected to be released at COP25.

This session is suitable for audiences in Asia, Africa and and Europe.

In addition to joining the webinar, we invite you to read the paper that describes the thinking behind the proposed guiding principles and net-zero definition, and to share your feedback by completing this short survey. Please submit feedback by November 15th.
