Monica Alcala Torresdey is a Target Analyst at the SBTi based within WRI’s Business Center. She’s part of the Target Validation Team, where she works assessing Financial Institutions targets.

Monica gained experience in the financial sector during an internship at Lloyds Banking Group in New York City, working at the Investment Advisory Group for high net-worth clients from Latin America and working as a Climate Finance Analyst at Iniciativa Climatica de Mexico, promoting climate disclosure and the inclusion of climate variables in investment decisions for pension funds and insurance companies in Mexico through the Latin American Climate Asset Disclosure Initiative (LACADI). Prior working at ICM she worked as an Economist in the Regulatory Policy Division of the OECD sharing international best practices on regulatory improvement at the national and subnational levels in Mexico and Peru.

Monica holds a Master’s in Science in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Tec de Monterrey.

Monica is a certified yoga teacher, and in her spare time she loves practicing vinyasa yoga, swimming, and mountain biking.
