Dr. Nicole Röttmer

Nicole is a Sustainability Partner, and PwC’s global climate clients and industry lead. In her 20 years of professional experience, she supported more than 150 corporate climate transformations in the financial services industry and real economy. Furthermore, Nicole developed a range of tools for value impacts of climate change, such as ClimateXcellence, the Carbon Value Analyzer, and the Stranding Tool. She led several cross-industry initiatives such as UNEP FI’s work on TCFD Climate Risk Assessments for 22 leading global insurance companies, and the Pathways to Paris project, co-funded by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, establishing the transition dialogue among 90 real economy and financial services companies.

Prior to joining PwC, Nicole provided strategic consulting services with McKinsey & Company, founded The CO-Firm, and co-led Lufthansa Technik’s and McKinsey & Company’s Joint Venture Lumics. Nicole is and has been acting as an advisor to the European Commission, UNEP FI, Science Based Target initiative, EFRAG’s Project Task Force pilot lab, the Climate Working Group of the German Accounting Standards Committee. She is a research affiliate at Oxford University‘s Smith School, and serves on the Board of the Sustainable Finance Research Group e.V.
