Mind the Science – why businesses are aligning their goals with the planet
The Science Based Targets Initiative – a partnership of CDP, UN Global Compact, World Resources Institute and WWF – will host an exclusive event in Paris on 20th May, 2015.
Held during the Business and Climate Summit, the special event seeks to mobilize and showcase companies that are at the forefront of climate action. The event will focus on why and how businesses are aligning their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets with science and accelerating progress towards a low-carbon economy. At the event we will:
• Launch the Sectoral Decarbonization Approach, a new methodology to set corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) targets aligned with climate science.
• Launch a benchmark report, Mind the Science, which shows how companies are setting their current GHG emission reduction targets.
• Corporate leaders already setting GHG targets aligned with climate science will share their experiences.

Business leaders will share experiences and opportunities of how their companies are aligning their GHG emission targets with climate science. The panel discussion will highlight key drivers and actions on 1) why and how business have adopted and committed to GHG emission reductions targets, and 2) how leading companies can positively influence policy-makers by demonstrating leadership.
